Unite is recognised at another Newsquest site
Production staff at the Worcester site of newspaper publisher Newsquest have voted 100% in favour of recognition for the union Unite in a ballot conducted by Acas.
Unite has already secured recognition at other Newsquest sites since the wave of union derecognition in the industry during the 1990s.
Unite regional organiser Alison Jones welcomed the “overwhelming mandate for the union”, adding: “The 100% result in favour of recognition is a product of our activists’ commitment and enthusiasm.”
The Central Arbitration Committee has also awarded Unite the right to collective bargaining on behalf of Manchester-based staff at electronics manufacturer Phototronics (UK), following a ballot of its 119 staff.
