Rise in teleworking
The number of teleworkers increased by nearly 20% to 1.5 million - one
in 18 of the workforce, according to an analysis of the latest Labour
Force Survey data by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES).
The analysis found that women teleworkers are more likely to be working
at home, while men are more likely to work from several different
locations, using the home as a base.
Most teleworkers are in senior jobs but there was a 12% increase in
clerical teleworking, despite a 1% drop in the number of clerical
workers in Britain.
