Compensation reforms ‘wrong’
The government’s reforms to the way compensation and costs are calculated in no win, no fee personal injury cases is “plain wrong” according to new president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers David Bolt.
The reforms will see the sums paid to people unlawfully injured reduced by up to 25%.
Addressing the organisation’s annual conference Bott stated that: “[Claimants] did not arrive at the decision [to litigate] after a cost-benefit analysis. They were injured and rightly expect redress…to turn to a seriously injured person and say, I am very sorry but the law says we cannot get you everything you are entitled to, is literally adding insult to injury.”
