Artificial light
New regulations protecting workers from the dangers of hazardous artificial light came into force last month. The Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010 implement an EU directive controlling the risks of exposure to UV radiation and light from lasers, which can harm the eyes and skin of workers. Common sources of light in the workplace such as office lights, photocopiers and computers are not affected. Further information can be found at: www.hse.gov.uk/radiation/nonionising/optical.htm
