Asbestos in schools
The campaign to rid schools of asbestos has won some support in Parliament. Michael Clapham, chair of the all party group on health and safety, has written to MPs highlighting the problem in schools and asking for their support for the key points raised by the Asbestos in Schools campaign group.
Ministers are still arguing to leave asbestos in place when primary schools are refurbished. Richard Lees from the campaign group said: “This has been done without following the most basic principles of risk management, for neither the scale of the problem nor the risk have been assessed.”
