TSSA wants safety reps
After what it describes as long years of negotiation the TSSA rail union reports that it, along with the other unions within Network Rail, are finally about to sign off a new Health and Safety Procedure.
The union says that this will make clear to all its reps exactly who they represent and how to escalate and resolve problems.
TSSA members are now being called on to get more involved in creating safer workplaces by standing for election as health and safety reps.
The new structure requires local health and safety reps to carry out inspections, highlight risks and organise members around safety issues. And area health and safety reps will organise safety activity across areas or functions and support the local reps.
