HSE targets hazardous substances in motor vehicle repair

As part of a European campaign on risk assessments for hazardous substances initiated by safety enforcement inspectors, Health and Safety Executive (HSE) inspectors are targeting motor vehicle repair (MVR) workplaces.

The aim of the campaign is to promote risk assessment for hazardous substances, focus on small and medium sized enterprises, target sectors rather than substances, raise awareness among employers and workers and promote consistency in enforcement.

New guidance, Health and safety in motor vehicle repair and associated industries, is being promoted and an enforcement phase begins next month. Further information at: www.hse.gov.uk/mvr/
