Boost for low paid

The lowest paid have had a pay boost in recent construction and broadcasting deals. The Building & Allied Trades (BATJIC) national agreement included a 2% June increase in basic pay, but the adult general operative rate increased by 3% from £7.96 an hour to £8.20.

At BBC Worldwide, a 2% rise in the salary bill was worth 2.5% on basic salaries of £25,000 or less but only 1.75% for those on £50,000 or more and 2.1% for those in between.
