Inflation tumbles
Falling inflation for the year to May reflected the strains of the COVID-19 crisis.
Motor fuel prices have dropped along with recreation and culture prices, while non-alcoholic drink and food prices rose (including cakes, snacks, premium crisps and sweets).
The Retail Prices Index (RPI), the preferred inflation measure for union negotiators, was 1.0% (down from 1.5%), while CPIH inflation fell more gently to 0.7%.
