Luca Visentini, the new general secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), has said that freedom of movement for workers within the European Union is a fundamental right which must not be bargained away.
Commenting on UK prime minister David Cameron’s proposals for reforming the EU before the promised UK referendum, Visentini said: “Trade unions cannot accept discrimination against workers from other member states.”
