Survey finds burnout among prison officers
Staff working in UK prisons and secure hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic experienced high levels of anxiety and burnout according to a preliminary analysis of a confidential survey of POA prison officer union members. Researchers at the Centre for the Study of Emotion and Law at the Royal Holloway University of London found those with caring responsibilities and those with concerns about Covid safety measures at work were particularly affected.
Respondents also reported very low levels of emotional support in their workplace.
