Union calls for guidance for higher risk groups
UNISON has called on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to improve its guidance for employers on how to protect Black, disabled and other vulnerable workers during the pandemic. In a letter to the organisation it calls for “stronger, clearer and unambiguous guidance” for employers, backed up with a “concerted and co-ordinated proactive inspection programme”.
“Employers and the regulatory authorities must stop paying lip service and do more to protect staff,” said UNISON national health and safety committee chair, and member of the national Black members’ committee, Pam Sian.
