New ETUC leader
Esther Lynch, the former deputy general secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), has been appointed to the top job, replacing Luca Visentini. Visentini has been elected as head of the International Trade Union Confederation (see page 7).
Lynch, who worked at the Irish Congress of Trade Unions before joining the ETUC in 2015, had prime responsibility for gender and pay issues in her previous role. She is the second woman to lead the ETUC, following Bernadette Ségol, who was ETUC general secretary between 2011 and 2015.
