FE re-nationalisation
The UCU college and university union has welcomed the Office for National Statistics’ decision to reclassify the further education (FE) sector as public rather than private sector.
It expects the move to provide a “much-needed cash injection”, similar to that received by schools. It says the FE sector has been “neglected of investment” between privatisation and re-nationalisation, with staff pay now, on average, around £9,000 below that of schoolteachers.
