Protection for sponsored workers

The Home Office has amended its guidance on the sponsorship of skilled workers and temporary workers.

Since 31 December 2024, it has become a breach of employers’ sponsorship conditions to pass on the fees paid for a Skilled Worker sponsor licence, or the Certificate of Sponsorship, to sponsored workers.

This also applies to associated administrative costs, for things such as premium services. It was already a breach of licence conditions to pass on the immigration skills charge.

The guidance tells employers how to meet their sponsor duties, and the actions that will be taken against those breaching their duties.
