Polish unions criticise pay increases for leaders
Poland’s three main union confederations, — NSZZ Solidarnosc, OPZZ and FZZ — have criticised a decision by the country’s parliament to award large increases, of around 60% in some cases, to the prime minister, government members and parliamentarians while continuing with a plan to freeze public sector pay.
In a joint statement they say: “... we do not understand why, at the same time the pay of more than half-a-million public sector workers … without whom the Polish state would not be able to function, is being frozen.”
