Council shows appreciation with job agreement
Over 1,000 workers have won extra job security after Chesterfield Borough Council agreed not to make any compulsory redundancies for six months, according to UNISON.
The union reports that the council has signed a job protection agreement in recognition of workers’ vital work during the Covid pandemic. Many of the council’s staff were redeployed during the pandemic to help in other sectors where there were shortages or increased demand because of the coronavirus.
UNISON, which drew up the agreement, is now urging other employers across the region to follow the council’s example.
