Corporate manslaughter investigation follows Letby conviction
Cheshire Police is carrying out an investigation into corporate manslaughter at the Countess of Chester Hospital, following the conviction of Lucy Letby. In August, the nurse was found guilty of murdering seven newborn babies at the hospital where she worked, and of attempted murder relating to six other babies between 2015 and 2016.
Detective Superintendent Simon Blackwell, who is leading the investigation, said it would consider areas including senior leadership and decision making to determine whether any criminality has taken place. At this stage, the force is not investigating any individuals in relation to gross negligence manslaughter, he added.
