Government issues new guidance on fit notes
The government has produced new guidance on statements of fitness for work, or “fit notes”/Med 3 forms. These are aimed at allowing the employer and employee to discuss the employee’s health condition and consider ways to help them stay in, or return to work. They can be issued by doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists, and physiotherapists.
The guidance explains the actions required if an employer is given a fit note by an employee; and gives advice on what different sections of it mean. It can be found on the gov.uk website.
