Worker directors
In German companies with more than 2,000 employees, half the members of the strategy-setting supervisory board should by law be employee representatives.
However, a new study by the IMU, a body close to the German unions, has found that this is the case in only 655 (60.4%) of the 1,084 companies of this size.
The research shows that companies have either found a legal way round the legislation or they have simply ignored it.
