Government ‘admits High Court defeat on health and safety’
The government must take action to grant workers in the gig economy the rights they are entitled to under European Union (EU) health and safety law, the IWGB union has said. It recently won a judicial review case in the High Court, successfully arguing that the government has failed to properly implement EU health and safety directives.
As the deadline for the government to appeal the ruling passed, the IWGB called on the government to take legislative action to ensure all workers have the right to PPE and to refuse unsafe work.
