Italian private health employers take 14 years

Employers and unions in the private health sector in Italy have reached agreement on a new settlement, 14 years after the previous deal expired. The deal, which covers around 100,000 workers, provides for an increase worth €154 a month on the benchmark pay grade plus a €1,000 one-off payment for all employees, paid in two stages.

Holiday rights are improved, with all employees guaranteed a period of at least 15 consecutive days’ leave between 15 July and 15 September, and the agreement contains a new clause on violence from the public.

Serena Sorrentino, general secretary of the FP CGIL union, described the deal as “an important result”, which secured the principle of “same work, same pay, same rights”.
