November rail strike dates announced

More rail strikes will take place on 3, 5, and 7 November, transport union the RMT has announced, blaming Network Rail for trying to impose drastic changes in working practices on staff.

Meanwhile, the GMB general union has declared industrial action ballot dates for more than 15,000 ambulance workers across 11 trusts in England and Wales for strike action.

GMB says that more NHS workers will also be balloted across other NHS trusts, with more votes set to follow.

And UNISON has stated that staff at the Food Standards Agency (FSA) are being balloted for strike action that could affect meat supplies during the festive season. The dispute involves inspectors, vets, and office-based staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and could bring the industry to a halt, according to the union.

Meanwhile, the NAHT has stated that school leaders across Wales and England will be proceeding with a formal ballot on industrial action.

Fellow education union the NEU announced that it is writing to employers with notification of its intention to carry out national ballots of around 300,000 teacher and support staff members in England and Wales.

The formal postal ballots will open on Friday 28 October 2022 and close on Friday 13 January 2023. Dates for potential strike action are likely to be from week commencing 30 January 2023.
