Dockers settle for 9.4%
Around 12,000 dockworkers in German North Sea ports have agreed a two-year pay deal which provides a 9.4% increase this year for container ports and a 7.4% increase for general cargo ports. Workers in both types of port get 4.4% in the second year, although this rises to match inflation if prices increase by up to 5.5%, with fresh negotiations if they go up more. Currently, inflation is 7.9% (August).
