Sunderland Stagecoach drivers win 11%

Two hundred drivers who are members of the GMB general union ended their industrial dispute by voting to accept a double digit pay rise of 11% – with a £150 bonus – backdated to 1 December. The workers had been taking industrial action since October.

Laura Maughan, GMB organiser, commented: “After a gruelling couple of months, Sunderland’s bus drivers have won themselves a double digit pay rise – the least they deserve. And Stagecoach deserves credit for eventually realising drivers’ worth and negotiating with them to reach a deal.”
