Derecognition fight
Members of the RMT transport union at Unipart Rail took strike action last month against the management’s decision to derecognise the union.
The company, which makes buildings for rail equipment, had threatened staff with disciplinary action if they went on strike — despite the RMT having run a lawful ballot.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said that Unipart “should get round the table and discuss our members’ right to collective bargaining rather than resorting to intimidation and unlawful scare tactics”.
