TUC raises red flag over post-Brexit rights cull
The TUC has warned that workers’ rights might be at risk following reports suggesting that Jacob Rees-Mogg, the minister for Brexit opportunities, is drawing up a list of over 1,000 EU-derived regulations for probable withdrawal.
The union organisation notes that in February it received an answer from business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng which promised “there is no government plan to reduce workers’ rights”. It had asked him for guarantees following the start of a review into EU-retained law. Now it says it wants fresh assurances. EU-derived or -strengthened workers’ rights include those covering holiday pay, equal pay, parental leave and equal treatment for part-time workers.
