Union backs inquiry

The TSSA and TUC have announced that they are working together on an independent inquiry into allegations of misconduct and sexual harassment made by a former member of staff at the union.

The TSSA stated that general secretary Manuel Cortes “has voluntarily stepped back from discussions and decision-making around these issues. He fully supports the decision to have an independent investigation”.

“The union will reconsider the use of settlement agreements with staff going forwards. TSSA will be open to suggestions and hopes to achieve full transparency going forwards and will not be seeking further injunctions or similar legal action,” it concluded.
