Asbestos cancers
The Prospect professionals’ union has highlighted new research showing that electricity workers are more likely to develop the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma, as well as skin cancer, than the general population.
The study by Birmingham University has been following more than 80,000 people who worked at the former Central Electricity Generating Board for at least six months between 1973 and 1982.
