Select deal in Scotland electrical contracting


The Scottish Joint Industry Board for the Electrical Contracting Industry agreement signed in the summer between the Unite general union and SELECT, the Electrical Contractors Association of Scotland, is about to deliver the first of four annual increases. 


Starting from 2 January 2017, the first rise for workers covered by the will be 2%, followed by 2.5% in 2018, 2.75% in 2019 and 3% in 2020. The hourly rate for an Approved Electrician (Travel Rate) rises from £15.61 in 2016 to £17.27 in 2020.


From January 2017, the existing travel allowance and travelling time tables are to be replaced by a taxable mileage rate of 11p a mile for Operatives and Apprentices using transport provided by the company and a mileage allowance of 21p a mile for Operatives and Apprentices using their own transport.
