Unite and Ryanair
The Unite general union has signed what it calls a “historic” recognition agreement with budget airline Ryanair on behalf of around 650 directly employed cabin crew.
It comes four months after the previously avowedly anti-union company signed a deal with pilots’ union BALPA — the first union recognition in its 33-year history.
Unite general secretary Len McCluskey said: “This is a historic agreement and a significant step by Ryanair.”
He added that the union would be seeking similar agreements with the employment agencies which indirectly employ the remainder of Ryanair’s UK cabin crew.
