Greek general strike
Greece’s two main union confederations, GSEE, covering the private sector and state-owned companies, and ADEDY, covering government employees, called a general strike on 12 November.
Their aim, they said, was to prevent the implementation of the austerity policies included in the “Memorandum of Understanding” signed with Greece’s creditors in August.
The action, which halted most domestic and international transport, was the first general strike since the coalition of SYRIZA and the Independent Greeks took office in January.
