Supermarket increases pay in Poland
Kaufland, the German supermarket chain with around 16,000 employees in Poland, is increasing pay for its cashiers by between 7% and 15% from March, taking wages to between 3,200 zł and 3,900 zł (£640 to £780) a month, depending on length of service. This is well above inflation, which was 4.4% in January, but less than the 800 zł extra (a 24% increase) the union wanted to take pay at Kaufland to the level paid at Lidl.
