Sixth Form Colleges
Sixth form colleges are being underfunded and suffering huge staff cuts, while sixth forms in academies are delivering poorer quality education, according to the NUT teaching union.
General Secretary Christine Blower said that massive cuts to 16-19 education are threatening the education of the 158,000 students. David Igoe, chief executive of the Sixth Form Colleges Association, said the colleges are being left to “wither on the vine” by the government.
