Consulting with workers
A new, amended edition of Consulting with workers on health and safety has been published by the HSE.
The book sets out the law and guidance on how to consult with employees and their representatives on health and safety issues at work under two sets of regulations: the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977 (as amended) and the Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996 (as amended). It explains how the two sets of regulations apply and affect the workforce.
The regulations and guidance apply to most workplaces with the exception of offshore workplaces, which are covered by separate regulations. The revised edition also contains information about other requirements on consulting with employees or their health and safety reps about health and safety law requirements in specific industries.
It will be of interest to trade unions, appointed health and safety reps and members of health and safety committees.
