Tories — win at any cost

Last year — general election year — saw the Conservative Party spend over £6 million more than they received in income, their latest accounts show. It looks like it was a case of just win, don’t worry about the cost.

Accounts for the year ending December 2010, filed with the political finance watchdog the Electoral Commission, show the party’s total income at its London headquarters was £43.1 million but its expenditure was £49.2 million leaving the party with a deficit for the year of £6.06 million. So much for the party that’s using slash and burn on the public sector to balance the books.
