More City fat cat consultants

The average profit (pay) of members of two financial consultant firms fell last year, their latest accounts show.

At Deloitte, the average profit dipped to £772,000 in the year ending May 2013 from £789,000 the year before. Senior partner and chief executive David Sproul got the largest chunk of profits with £2.7 million in 2013 against £2.8 million in 2012.

Accounts filed at Companies House for KPMG show John Griffith-Jones, who retired as senior partner in July 2012, received £3.13 million in the financial year ending September 2012. His “normal remuneration” was £1.97 million, but he also received £1.16 million under the firm’s retirement provisions.

The average profit of members was down to £568,000 from £682,000. Nevertheless, £568,000 equates to the not insubstantial sum of £10,923 a week.
