Strike ballot is back on at ASDA, says GMB

The GMB general union is pressing ahead with a national strike ballot in ASDA Wal-Mart over union recognition for workers in the company’s 20 distribution depots.

The GMB had suspended strike plans after reaching a recognition deal with the company at a meeting on 11 April.

However, two further meetings between the GMB and ASDA “confirmed that the company was no longer prepared to deliver this deal”, according to the union, so the strike ballot is back on.
