Law Matters

Mandatory retirement age

A legal challenge to the age equality regulations has been given the go-ahead.

Heyday, an offshoot of charity Age Concern, applied for a judicial review of the regulations on the grounds that its mandatory retirement ages are contrary to European law. The High Court has now given permission for the application to proceed, and a two-day hearing has been listed to start on 6 December.
