Police pay

Over 9,000 members of PCS civil service union at the Metropolitan Police, including police community support officers, wardens, and admin support staff, were voting last month in a strike ballot over a below inflation pay offer of 2.5%. The union says this is the fifth year running that there has been a massive under spend on the staff budget.

In a separate development the Police Federation has secured a judicial review of the home secretary’s decision to stage the implementation of last September’s pay award, and is balloting on industrial rights, arbitration and members’ employment status.
