Lifetime award
A union leader has won an industry award for his work for members. Brian Orrell, general secretary of seafarers’ union Nautilus UK, received the Lloyd’s List Lifetime Award for his 30-plus years’ work assisting his members.
Lloyd’s List say the award particularly reflected Orrell’s contribution towards the 2006 International Maritime Labour Convention — the so-called “bill of rights” for seafarers — and other work on international seafarers’ rights.
