Wales broadcasting

The BECTU and NUJ media unions met members of the Welsh Assembly and first minister Rhodri Morgan last month to put the case for public service broadcasting in Wales.

The unions are concerned over the future of news and non-news programming on ITV Wales, and cuts to BBC jobs and budgets. Regulatory mechanisms should be used to strengthen public service broadcasting through these channels and Channel 4 and S4C, they said.
