Union busting

Cranberry Foods, the UK’s second-biggest turkey processing company, has deployed American union-busting company The Burke Group to help fend off a union recognition bid by the general union Unite.

Workers at the plant told The Guardian newspaper that they had been warned by supervisors that the company could go bankrupt if the union won recognition.

Workers said that they had been called in for one-to-one meetings with supervisors to be asked their views on trade unions.

Workers who spoke to newspaper said they were backing the union in an attempt to get more control over their working lives.
