Unite steps in to Co-op row

The Unite general union, which represents 1,200 workers employed by the Co-operative Group — mainly in retail logistics — has written to the group board urging it to embrace reform.

This follows the resignation of Lord Myners from the board in the face of opposition to his reform proposals.

A letter sent on behalf of Unite Co-op workers calls on the board to support Myners’ proposals in order to secure the group’s future while retaining its “one-member one-vote” principles.
