Victory for blacklisted rep

Unite general union rep Steve Kelly, who was blacklisted by his employer Interserve Industrial Services because of his union activities while working at a power station at Runcorn in Cheshire, has won his Employment Tribunal case for unfair dismissal.

Kelly is one of thousands of trade unionists who were blacklisted and denied work because of their political or trade union activity or for raising health and safety concerns. He was awarded around £3,250 for unfair dismissal plus damages of £1,250 for injured feelings.

The tribunal said that Trevor Collins, a manager on the Capenhurst nuclear project, did not want Kelly working for him because of his activities as a Unite member.
