Working parents expect more

Parents' expectations of what their employers can do to help them balance work and family life have grown over the last two years, a Daycare Trust survey has revealed.

The survey of almost 600 working parents found a third describing their employer as not family friendly and only one in 10 saying their employer gives help with childcare. Parents' top three priorities were more affordable provision, more places and more support from their employers.

Daycare Trust director Stephen Burke said that "still too few employers provide real help with childcare."

The survey is available from Daycare Trust, 21 St George's Road, London SE1 6ES; tel 020 7840 3350.
