Equal pay claims in civil service

The Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) is planning to lodge a series of sex discrimination and equal pay cases following the merging of two government departments which has

left some staff earning around o6,000 a year less than others doing the same job.

Senior PCS negotiator Geoff Lewtas said that "the continuing dispute is causing backlogs of work . but there is no clear sign" that the Treasury is willing to settle through negotiation."
