Finance union merger
Single-company unions are to become even rarer with news that the CGNU Staff Association is to merge with finance and manufacturing union Amicus. The association covers staff in the country's largest insurance company, Aviva (formerly CGNU).
Just over three quarters of the staff association members who voted approved of the merger, which will give Amicus an extra 12,000 members.
