Nissan faces first UK strike

Car firm Nissan faces the first ever strike at its factory in Sunderland after management tried to move the purchasing department away from the area.

Members of manufacturing union Amicus, who represent 30% (and growing) of the company's 4,800 workers in Sunderland, have voted in favour of strike action.

The president of Nissan is also threatening to transfer car production to France - apparently in an attempt to push the government into providing more aid to the company.
