True mission: Socialists and the Labour Party question in the US

Eric Chester, Pluto Press, 260 pages, paperback, £14.99

This book rightly argues that the Republicans and Democrats are parties of business that have failed to represent working people, and instead US workers need an independent party to represent their interests.

However, he rejects third party progressive candidates as satellites of the main parties.

The author believes that only by standing openly as socialists can workers' voices be heard.
